Breaking the pattern: New funding, new possibilities
Hey readers. Don Charlton here, founder and CEO of The Resumator. You haven’t heard much from me here on the blog, but I had to speak up for this special occasion.
Today, we celebrate an infusion of $15 million in funding, our largest round ever, from a phenomenal team of investors – new lead investor, Volition Capital, innovative East Coast Venture firms Blue Cloud Ventures and Riverfront Ventures and follow on financing from Birchmere Ventures and Rincon Venture Partners, demonstrating a continued commitment to The Resumator’s growth and rapid expansion. This funding validates what I’ve long believed: That The Resumator is the only way for people like us in small and midsized businesses to really compete for—and win—the best talent.
Breaking the pattern: From no options to no limits
While thinking about what to say here, the phrase “breaking the pattern” kept running through my mind. I broke a pattern when I started The Resumator to give SMBs like yours and mine a shot at competing for performers. I moved us out of INBOX Recruiting and into world-class recruiting and hiring software—all without the need for an enterprise budget.
Today, companies like yours and mine have options for managing the start-to-finish recruiting and hiring process with ease. What’s so exciting to me, what frankly blows my mind sometimes, is that The Resumator – a company I founded – is THE product that paved the way for where we are today. It’s THE product that transformed the industry.
Breaking more patterns: From sourcing applicants to finding performers
Since that transformation, we’ve been breaking even more patterns left and right: a new office in San Francisco, a new leadership team and powerful new releases. This year so far, even before we had our funding, we haven’t stopped delivering major monthly releases including:

- Passive recruiting that’s anything but, connecting you to higher quality talent, faster
- Revamped reporting and analytics that provide you the insights you need to perform
Even better, we’re closing out the summer with an exciting Labor Day release that will revolutionize the way you interview, from start to finish. And there’s no end in sight. We won’t stop:
- Identifying and eliminating barriers, including anything and everything that stops you from hiring performers
- Hiring more of our own performers, like dedicated account managers and product engineers, so we can serve you better
- Expanding from coast to coast to help the many amazing companies we know are out there
- Giving you a greater competitive advantage with benchmarking and new partnerships
Thanks to our funding, more transformation – and more pattern breaking – is coming. Even though we’re helping nearly 2300 companies in over 63 countries grow, we‘ve only just begun bringing you the performers who will transform your company.
I’m thankful and humbled by the opportunity to work with so many of the best – the best leadership team, the best allies, the best customers. It’s been a wild ride so far.
